John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He (Jesus) was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made;
The more life I live, the more I truly understand that He is everything.
Our lives flow externally from our internal beings. Thoughts drive our actions. I think I’m hungry, then I eat. I think I’m thirsty, then I drink. I think I’m tired, then I stay up because I’m a mom (ha!). Mostly, we react or act from how we internally feel.
What happens when we’re constantly internally distressed? We become depressed, anxious, sad, angry, etc. Our physical health suffers because our internal person is sick. I habitually ignore my feelings and push through them because duty comes first. But is that what I’m supposed to do? Nope. It’s a coping mechanism.
This is why Jesus is everything. John 1:1-3 says in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He (Jesus) was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made;
If I’m suffering internally, something within me is not working properly. What do you do when something is broken? Return it to the manufacturer to be fixed.
If God is our manufacturer according to John 1:3, then He can (and will) fix what is broken. We have to get in our prayer closets and visit with Him. We have to mentally return to the broken places in ourselves (ouch), ask Him what He says about them, and receive a new vision. Only through His eyes can we see ourselves clearly and receive His healing.
I recently went through this process with help, and I was amazed at the images and the words the Lord had to say. I had been holding onto deep, dark secrets that could only be released when I visited them, received a new picture, and received His Words for them. It requires vulnerability and stillness, things that are difficult to achieve in our busy lives.
What is that one behavior that bugs you? In this new year, consider seeking Him with me instead of depending on our usual coping behaviors. Let’s turn our eyes toward Him and receive the internal health we need. Let’s watch our external health soar.
He is our hope, health, healing, peace, joy, etc. He meets and fixes every internal need, so we can live externally to the fullest.
He is everything.
Happy new year ♥️
