“The Lord is my light and my salvation – so why should I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1
Let’s be honest. How many of us do what David did in this Psalm and stop and ask ourselves why we’re afraid? Probably very few unless we have been trained to do it.
I recently went through a class that completely changed my view of my emotions, reactions, and triggers. (I have to shout out to Kay Brown and the Genesis Process. Her class is life changing!) We all have deep-seated wounds, lies, that we have come to believe as truth. This is where fear is let inside.
If you want to kick fear out and close the door, consider asking yourself the hard questions: why am I afraid? what am I afraid of? What is the truth? Lord, help me believe the truth.
The truth is Jesus is everything. He is our light and our salvation, and in Him we have absolutely nothing to fear (Psalm 27:1). If you’re anxious or afraid of something, train yourself to stop your mind and ask Jesus for help. He is faithful! He will show you the lie and then give you the truth you need to replace it.
This is not an easy feat alone. If you need help, reach out and ask. Don’t be afraid. God is for you (Romans 8:31).
Love and hugs,
Cristy
