His

Psalm 24:1 “The Earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein (KJV).

Wading and swimming through pristine purified cave water while ducking under giant stalactites and dodging crystal stalagmites, stunning is the only word I can think of to describe my 600 meter adventure. Then in the middle of the dark, sparkling, natural cave in Mexico, our slender and soft spoken French tour guide stopped our group to reverence the god of water and the spirits inside the earth. My indignant spirit gave an internal eye roll. Under my breath to avoid being rude and disturbing the group, I began thanking the Lord for this beautiful creation.

Our sweet tour guide later asked my profession, and when I told her I was a children’s pastor, she looked at me confused. I answered her again, “I teach children about Jesus.” Her eyes melted with softness as if she were seeing something beautiful. She found me after the tour and told me how lovely my profession was, teaching children about God. She said her six-year-old son had so many questions, and she could only answer so much. I told her to simply point him to the Bible as much as possible. Interrupted by summons for the next tour, she smiled and nodded, busily moving on to the next group. I hope she and her son both find our Creator. I hope that was enough to plant a seed Jesus can water.

There have been a number of beautiful people and children I’ve been able to meet and enjoy over the last four days on our cruise to and from Costa Maya and Cozumel, along with stunning sights I’ve had the honor and pleasure of viewing. I can’t help but wonder with many of them, do you know you are His? Do you know He made these sights, sounds, and sensations just for you?

Today, looking out at the vastness of the deep blue crystal ocean, I can’t help but marvel. We are tiny, yet valuable, specks in His creation. We are His.
